Sproose is an independent eco laundry and home care review publication for Irish and UK shoppers. We were started by a small team of researchers frustrated with eco product marketing that made bold claims without any ingredient-level evidence to back them up.

What We Do

Every product we review is assessed against two independent standards: the EWG Skin Deep database (ingredient-level toxicology ratings from A to F) and the EU Detergent Regulation ingredient disclosure requirements. We check actual ingredient lists, not packaging claims.

We also test products in real Irish conditions — specifically, Dublin hard water at approximately 360 mg/L calcium carbonate. Most eco laundry products are developed and tested in soft-water markets. Our hard water testing adds a dimension of Irish-market relevance that most reviews miss entirely.

Our Standards

We do not accept free products, paid partnerships, or affiliate arrangements that influence review outcomes. Where we use affiliate links (to help cover operating costs), this is disclosed in our footer and privacy policy, and the affiliate relationship has zero bearing on which products we recommend or how we rate them.

We will not recommend a product that fails our ingredient audit, regardless of how it is positioned in the market or who makes it. We will name specific compounds we object to and explain why.

Why Ireland Specifically

The Irish eco laundry market is underserved by independent review. Most eco product guides are written for the UK or US market and do not account for Irish water hardness, Irish retail availability, or the specific import cost reality of buying from US or UK brands into the Irish market. We write for the Irish buyer first.
